PlanetCAD Acquires eCAS Supply Chain Technology

Technology Provides Fit to PlanetCAD's Cycle Time Reduction Mission

BOULDER, Colorado - August 14, 2001 - PlanetCAD Inc. (AMEX-PCD), a leading developer of software solutions that integrate engineering data throughout the manufacturing supply chain, today announced the acquisition of eCAS, a supply chain productivity technology developed by CastaLink. This announcement by PlanetCAD is the first in its evolved strategy to provide greater manufacturing efficiency through Cycle Time Reduction solutions.

CastaLink's eCAS technology is a portfolio of productivity modules that address the supply chain automation needs of medium-sized manufacturers, enabling streamlined procurement, sales and order processing between OEMs, suppliers and customers. PlanetCAD will integrate this technology with existing proprietary technologies for communication of high-quality engineering design data throughout the supply chain.
