Surfware Announces New Suite of Design Products
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, California - August 8, 2001 - Surfware, Inc., developers of SURFCAM CAD/CAM Systems, announced today that their new CAD initiative will result in a complete suite of design products. SURFCAM's suite of superior design tools will now include SURFCAM Design, the classic wireframe package, SURFCAM Solids, the latest in solid-modeling technology, and SURFCAM Solids Plus, a combination of SURFCAM Solids and the time-proven SURFCAM surface modeler for complex surface-modeling. SURFCAM SolidsSolid Solutions for Manufacturing EngineersThe stand-alone, procedural solid modeling software automates the construction and editing of 3-dimensional models. It enables the manufacturing engineer or NC programmer to build parts faster and make design changes easier. More than a feature-based solid modeler, SURFCAM Solids reduces the number of steps it takes to create complex models. Each aspect of a procedure, including its sketches, geometric relationships, features, and parameters, is fully associative. Each can be modified independently and concurrently within the procedure, allowing substantial changes to the model without reconstructing geometry. SURFCAM Solids is always in assembly mode. This allows the creation and assembly of multiple components within the same file; parts that have to work together can now be created together. Modify, reorder or remove actions in the history tree at the part or assembly level with the unique sequencer feature. All subsequent items on the history tree are automatically updated. No state-of-the-art solids modeler is complete without the ability to produce output files and drawings. SURFCAM Solids supports several output files including IGES, Parasolids, etc., to allow the manufacturing engineer or NC programmer to exchange ready-to-use model data with their customers and vendors. Detail drafting capabilities include the ability to create industry standard 2D drawings from 3D models using automated functionality. Extensive customizations give the flexibility to create and manage drawing data, including dimensions, title and revision blocks, ANSI geometric dimensioning and tolerance blocks, and much more. SURFCAM Solids PlusSURFCAM Solids Plus combines SURFCAM's well-known surface modeler with the procedural solid modeling system. SURFCAM's surface modeler contains full complex surface creation abilities allowing quick and easy creation and editing of geometry and surfaces. SURFCAM DesignThe wireframe-modeling version of SURFCAM has a true 3D database for complete part design, dimensioning and editing. The package includes DXF, CADL and IGES-Out translators. This bundled package offers the manufacturing engineer unprecedented power and control over the design-for-manufacture process. With the push of a button, the design elements pass from Solids into SURFCAM 's machining modules: SURFCAM 2, 3, 4, 5-Axis Milling and Lathe. From here, mold-machining features like SURFCAM's planar flow-cut or pencil cut technologies can be applied to the components. Solid models become reality as SURFCAM is used to program 2, 3, 4 and 5-axis mills, lathes, wire EDM, laser, plasma and water-jet machines to create the parts built in Solids Plus. About Surfware, Inc.Surfware, Inc. is the manufacturer of SURFCAM CAD/CAM software, built for the Microsoft Windows operating system environment. SURFCAM makes easy CNC programming of 2-, 3-, 4, and 5-axis mills, lathes, wire EDM, laser, plasma, and water-jet machines a reality. Machinists, designers and engineers worldwide use it for 2D and 3D mechanical design, surface modeling, solid modeling, reverse engineering, prototyping, mold-making, pattern-making and production machining.
