Applied 3D Science and Pathtrace Engineering Systems Form OEM PartnershipPathtrace Debuts EdgeCAM Part Modeler, Powered by A3DS' ParaLogix
MERRIMACK, New Hampshire - August 7, 2001 - Applied 3D Science, Inc. (A3DS) and Pathtrace Engineering Systems (Reading, Berkshire, United Kingdom), today announced an OEM partnership. The first result of the partnership is the debut of the EdgeCAM Part Modeler from Pathtrace, an entry-level solids modeling program powered by A3DS' ParaLogix procedural modeling technology. Available September 2001, the EdgeCAM Part Modeler provides the manufacturing engineer with an easy-to-use and cost-effective solid modeler for both parts and assemblies. EdgeCAM Part Modeler incorporates features for many manufacturing-specific tasks, such as designing molds and dies or generating electrodes. The EdgeCAM Part Modeler will integrate seamlessly with Pathtrace's EdgeCAM Solid Machinist, providing a complete system for creating and machining true solids-based parts with Automatic Feature Recognition and full Part-to-Toolpath associativity. "In our association with A3DS, Pathtrace has a partner with specialized Solid Modeling expertise to provide us with complimentary design tools for EdgeCAM Solid Machinist. This arrangement allows Pathtrace to focus on providing class-leading manufacturing technology, complimented by comprehensive Solid Modeling tools with the EdgeCAM Part Modeler," said Dave Boucher, Research and Development Director for Pathtrace plc. "We are pleased to have the opportunity to help Pathtrace bring additional value to their user community. Their decision to partner with A3DS demonstrates a significant confidence level in our company, its products, and technology. Strong OEM partnerships like Pathtrace will continue to be an important component of A3DS' marketing strategy ," said Steven G. Mastrangelo, CEO of Applied 3D Science. About ParaLogixParaLogix is a 3D design technology that enables designers to capture and re-use engineering and manufacturing experience, or "procedures", to automate the process of modeling mechanical parts and assemblies. Unlike CAD products that create models step-by-step, ParaLogix' procedural solid modeling allows users to combine multiple construction steps into a single operation. This significantly reduces design time, eliminates remedial modeling tasks, and helps companies tie design and manufacturing practices together. ParaLogix is based on the Parasolid modeling kernel from Unigraphics Solutions Inc. (NYSE:UGS). About Pathtrace Engineering SystemsPathtrace Engineering Systems is the driving force behind EdgeCAM, the award-winning CAM system. A comprehensive suite of intelligent manufacturing solutions for CAM, EdgeCAM incorporates a wide range of applications from turning and prismatic milling to mold and die on a single platform. EdgeCAM offers the user a wide range of innovative features for a quick and reliable route to manufacture. In addition, it is a totally integrated CAM system and can accept native CAD files from most major CAD systems. Established in 1983, Pathtrace has two offices in the UK, subsidiaries in the United States, Singapore and Scandinavia, together with a joint venture in Japan. A comprehensive Reseller network offers sales and support in over 45 countries worldwide. About Applied 3D Science, Inc. Applied 3D Science, Inc., based in Merrimack, New Hampshire, USA, develops practical CAD software for the design and manufacturing industries that solve complex design problems for the average user. Its mission is to establish new design paradigms using its innovative Procedural Modeling technology to enable designers to bypass traditional 3D modeling techniques and use design and manufacturing knowledge to drive the development process.
