Independent Benchmark Study Shows Virtue3D Compresses 3D Web Files up to 45X Smaller Than Competitors

eTesting Labs Affiliate Proves Virtue3D Optimizer Creates Smallest 3D Files for Fastest Online Delivery

NATICK, Mass. - August 7, 2001 - Virtue3D, a provider of 3D software that creates the industry’s smallest files for the fastest delivery of 3D content over the Web, today announced the results of an independent research study that proved the superiority of Virtue3D Optimizer compression technology.

The tests demonstrated that Virtue3D Optimizer created compressed 3D files that were consistently smaller, and in some instances, up to 45 times smaller than files created by competing products. The tests were conducted by Software Testing Center of the Standards Institution of Israel, an affiliate of eTesting Labs Inc. (formerly ZD Labs), a Ziff-Davis Media company.

Virtue3D Optimizer consistently outperformed competing products - including Macromedia 3D Exporter for 3D Studio Max, IBM HotMedia, Viewpoint Scene Builder, Cycore Cult3D Exporter for 3D Studio Max, and Pulse 3D Exporter for 3D Studio Max - in all benchmarks. Virtue3D Optimizer delivered the best rate of compression in every comparison category, which included compression of varying sizes of 3D models containing geometry, geometry and animation, and geometry with image texture. • Compressed geometry files on average by as much as 97%. Virtue3D Optimizer created files up to 45 times smaller than files compressed by competing products.
• Compressed 3D files with geometry plus animation to at least half the size. Virtue3D Optimizer reduced files by at least half as much as - and often more than four times smaller than - the closest competitor.
• Created the smallest compressed files with geometry plus image texture. Virtue3D Optimizer reduced original file sizes by at least 90%, beating all other compression technologies.
