Leading Machinery Manufacturer CMS SpA Selects UGS' Solid Edge Design Software and i-Man for Product Definition Management

CYPRESS, CA - August 6, 2001 - UGS (NYSE: UGS) today announces that CMS SpA, a leading manufacturer of CNC machinery, has selected Solid Edge for its mechanical computer-aided design system and i-Man as its internet-centric collaborative product definition management system.

CMS SpA, based near Milan, Italy designs, manufactures and sells machinery for the processing and removal of excess materials such as wood, marble, plastic, composite materials, light alloys, and aluminum. The company purchased 22 Solid Edge licenses to replace its outdated 2-D CAD system. CMS SpA has been using i-Man to manage product data since September 2000.
