Arc Second Releases Beta Version of PocketCAD DWFView™

DULLES, Virginia - July 24, 2001 - Arc Second, Inc., the leading provider of mobile CAD software solutions, today announced the beta release of DWFView™, a custom add-in designed for use with PocketCAD PRO 4.0. The DWFView beta can be downloaded free of charge until August 15, 2001 at http://www.PocketCAD.com.

Powered with AutoDesk technology, PocketCAD PRO software offers mobile professionals a comprehensive solution for creating, editing and viewing design drawings at the job site reducing the need to bring paper blueprints into the field. PocketCAD 4.0 reads and writes DWG™ and DXF files and is compatible with nearly all desktop CAD software packages, including AutoCAD� Release 12 through 2002.

With PocketCAD PRO 4.0 and the DWFView add-in, users can import DWF files into PocketCAD and then interrogate, annotate, and edit the drawing. The drawing can then be saved as a .CAD file (PocketCAD format) that can be later translated to a DWG or DXF™ file.

This new capability means PocketCAD 4.0 users can:

• View paperspace layouts 
• View Architectural Desktop drawings by 'plotting' (saving) them to DWF 
• View Mechanical Desktop drawings by 'plotting' (saving) them to DWF 
• View Inventor drawings by 'plotting' (saving) them to DWF 
• View Large GIS or Topo Maps by 'plotting' (saving) them to DWF

“DWFView is just one of the newest custom applications designed for PocketCAD PRO,” said Michael Feilmeier, PocketCAD product manager at Arc Second. “Customers requiring access to a wide range of drawing formats will appreciate this enhanced capability.”

DWF (drawing web format) is a lightweight vector file format that preserves the security and precision of original DWG drawing files. With the inherent size of DWG/DXF files, the DWF format is well suited for web viewing and wireless transfer of files. DWF also removes the non-visual components of a drawing, such as attributes, properties, and complex object behavior.
