WALTHAM, MA - July 16, 2001 - Revit Technology Corporation, creator of the first parametric building modeler for the AEC industry, announced today it will sponsor "Expanding Your Practice with the Internet," an ongoing series of seminars targeted for architects and design professionals, city planners, construction managers and building owners. The nationwide series will be hosted by Jonathan Cohen, a noted architect and author, and will explore how building design professionals can implement and leverage the Internet in their businesses.

Addressing the role of the Web in the AEC industry, the seminar series will focus on the use of the Internet as a design and communication tool as well as its connection to successful business practices. Attendees will learn to use the Internet to: plan, design and manage Web sites; present graphics, CAD, GIS, 3D imagery and multimedia; manage projects with extranets; utilize the Web in participatory planning and design; and expand their firm's services. AIA members who attend a seminar session will receive 6.5 AIA CES Learning Units.

"The design professions are entering a new era of collaboration, supported by Internet-based communication and tools like Revit, which enable sharing of building information," said Jonathan Cohen, AIA, a principal at Jonathan Cohen & Associates and the author of Communication and Design with the Internet: A Guide for Architects, Planners, and Building Professionals (WW Norton, 2000). "Architects can enlarge their role in the building enterprise by offering new communication and information management services. These seminars show how easy that can be."
