Synergis Adept Document Management Solution to Offer Tight Integration with Autodesk InventorPlug-in for Autodesk Inventor will give 3D designers greater productivity and accuracy
QUAKERTOWN, PA - July 11, 2001 - Synergis Technologies, Inc. today announced the Q3 delivery of a plug-in for Synergis Adept software to simplify access to and leverage data in Autodesk Inventor designs, components, and revisions on a LAN or across the Internet. Adept, from Synergis Technologies, will provide the document management tools 3D designers are looking for to track and manage all the compound data stored inside their 3D designs, including title blocks, references, parts, assemblies, component revisions and their inter-relationships. The Synergis Adept plug-in, which includes the ability to manage Autodesk Inventor parts and assemblies, automated revision tracking, and "Where Used" information tracking, Autodesk Inventor title block/property extraction into the Adept database, 3D thumbnail previews, and an integrated viewing feature, will be included in Synergis Adept 5 to be released in Q3. "Nowadays I wonder how I even managed files in the 2D world, let alone in 3D," says Todd Schmoock, CAD manager at Matheson Tri-Gas, a specialty gas and equipment manufacturer, who produces nine out of every ten drawings in 3D and manages them with Adept. "Some things I do every day wouldn't be possible without Adept. For example, keeping track of projects, identifying who owns the file now and who last owned it, running reports, and tracking metadata in the form of attributes." Automatically Building a 3D DatabaseAdept automatically extracts information about Autodesk Inventor components and relationships during installation by mining all designs for properties, attributes, and references. It then automatically synchronizes legacy designs and creates a database that understands the relationship between all parts and assemblies and all the drawings. This means when a designer signs out an Autodesk Inventor drawing for the first time, all the relationships are already intact. This ability to create a relationship database up front is unique to Adept. Other PC-based document management solutions must create relationships on a per drawing basis, which causes legacy data conversion to take months instead of minutes. Solid Integration with Autodesk InventorSynergis Adept will feature pull down menus and tool bars with easy-to-access searching, sign-in and sign-out capabilities, and more-as part of the interface for the Synergis Adept plug-in for Autodesk Inventor. The tight integration of Adept with Autodesk Inventor ensures excellent document management practices are maintained throughout the design-through-manufacturing process so that costly mistakes are avoided. This continues Synergis' solid integration with Autodesk's complete line of design products, including AutoCAD, AutoCAD Mechanical, Autodesk Mechanical Desktop, Autodesk Architectural Desktop and Autodesk Land Desktop. "Synergis brings a complete and cost-effective solution with exceptional document management capabilities to Autodesk Inventor users. With Adept, Synergis is extending the power of Autodesk Inventor to ensure our common customers are managing their product designs effectively, minimizing errors and costs, and manufacturing products from the correct version of the 3D design," said Robert Kross, vice president of the Manufacturing Market Group at Autodesk. Part and assembly management; distributed document vaulting on a LAN, Extranet or over the Internet; a client server database option; and a fully functional document viewer are all included with the core Adept product at no extra charge. "The robust feature set of Adept allows us to offer clients an extremely powerful solution at an affordable cost of ownership," says Todd Cummings, director of document management solutions for Synergis. "There is no other PDM solution available that can match Adept's price/performance value proposition. By offering a plug-in for Autodesk Inventor, we are offering customers even greater value." AvailabilitySynergis Adept software is available immediately worldwide at a suggested retail price of US $795/seat. The Synergis Adept plug-in for Autodesk Inventor will be available in Q3. Adept webcasts are scheduled on a regular basis to demonstrate the features and benefits of the Synergis solution. About Synergis Technologies, Inc.Synergis is a leader in developing engineering document management software for manufacturing, architectural design, civil engineering and land development, utilities, and government.
