VectorWorks SPOTLIGHT Now ShippingCOLUMBIA, Maryland - February 22, 2001 - Nemetschek North America today announced the release of VectorWorks SPOTLIGHT, the second product in the VectorWorks Industry Series. First introduced at LDI 2000, VectorWorks SPOTLIGHT has received rave reviews from lighting designers. VectorWorks SPOTLIGHT merges powerful drafting and modeling tools with lighting design and production tools making it easy to quickly create light plots, automate paperwork and visualize design concepts in 3D. Boasting a wide array of revolutionary features, SPOTLIGHT features a library of more than 400 intelligent instruments and accessories from 15 leading manufacturers such as Martin, Vari*Lite and ETC. More than just static symbols, these instruments are able to: draw beams in both 2D and 3D, allow complete customization of labels on the plot and track data. In addition, SPOTLIGHT provides a unique truss tool that allows for the easy creation of any style, shape or size of truss. Moreover, SPOTLIGHT's presentation and visualization tools enable designers to generate impressive animations between scenes, including moving lights, color changes and gobo projections. SPOTLIGHT also features over 3,000 pre-configured gobo patterns from leading manufacturers such as Apollo Designs, GAM, Lee and Rosco. SPOTLIGHT sets a precedent as the only CAD lighting software that automatically generates Magic Sheets by focus area or color. Furthermore, lighting designers are able to generate advanced paperwork with a single command, and they can also import and export lighting information from Lightwright as well as other spreadsheet programs. Richard Diehl, CEO, Nemetschek North America, stated, "The demand for a feature-rich, quality entertainment design program has been met with VectorWorks SPOTLIGHT. Our users asked and we answered. The pre-sales for SPOTLIGHT alone indicate that this is going to be the software of choice for lighting designers." Diehl continued, "The VectorWorks Industry Series is our commitment to our users to create specific products to address the needs of designers in multiple industries. We are not content to be the value leader only in the AEC market, we want to do so in all areas of design." The VectorWorks Industry Series was first introduced in January 2000, with the launch of its first product, VectorWorks ARCHITECT. SPOTLIGHT and ARCHITECT will be joined shortly by VectorWorks LANDMARK, a landscape and site design package, currently in the final stages of beta testing and scheduled for release in early spring. Also in development is VectorWorks ENGINEER, the first product designed specifically for mechanical engineering, scheduled for launch later in 2001. Nemetschek North America (formerly Diehl Graphsoft) is a wholly owned subsidiary of European software giant Nemetschek AG. A global leader in design technologies, Nemetschek N.A. has developed CAD software for the personal computer since 1985. VectorWorks is one of the world's best selling CAD products and has more than 105,000 users in over 85 countries. http://www.vectorworksspotlight.com
