Berit Becomes Bentley IntegratorCompanies team up to deliver advanced AM/FM/GIS SolutionsBARCELONA, Spain - February 14, 2001 - At the Bentley Worldwide Third Party Developer Conference, Bentley Systems, Incorporated (Exton, PA) announced today that Berit, a leading Central European provider of utility network information systems, has been accepted and agreed to join the Bentley Integrator program. This move strengthens the existing cooperation between the two companies in the Central European market and allows Bentley users to benefit from Berit's state-of-the-art AM/FM/GIS solutions well beyond the Central European market. Berit, a long-term Bentley partner, has 10 years' experience in providing utility solutions to users in the Central European area. As part of this agreement, Berit will further embrace Bentley technology by integrating its LIDS open database-centric software solutions even closer with Bentley's engineering offerings like MicroStation GeoGraphics for data manipulation and interfacing to Oracle Spatial and ModelServer Discovery for vector and raster publishing over the Web. Bentley and Berit will develop a network of partners specialized in utility solutions to offer the LIDS solution to customers including implementation services. "We are excited about the close integration that has brought together a state-of-the-art AM/FM/GIS platform based on open relational database technology and Bentley's geoengineering technology," says Ted Lamboo, Executive Vice President of Bentley International. "Our users require this, and together with our local partners we possess a wealth of experience in the AM/FM/GIS area. We already have a longstanding relationship with Berit and believe that this cooperation holds the potential for being a major step forward for our customers, for our partners, as well as for our two companies." "The market for AM/FM/GIS is rapidly maturing and moving from closed departmental solutions to open systems that are an integral part of the customers enterprise IT platform," says Petr Kalab, CEO of Berit Group. "With the increased competition and globalization taking place in the utility industry, the market requires us to expand our reach beyond the Central European area that we cover today. We have been based on Bentley technology since our company started and have always worked with partners to implement, deploy and support the LIDS solution. We see this new cooperation with Bentley and its international organization as a perfect match between the strengths of the two companies." About LIDS TechnologyBased on database technology from Oracle and geoengineering software from Bentley, Berit has developed a general AM/FM/GIS platform for managing networked utilities called LIDS. Based on the latest technology, the new version of the LIDS software, LIDS IT, offers open, database-centric solutions to utility companies for managing their networked facilities as an integral part of the Oracle enterprise database, including the use of Oracle Spatial for OpenGIS compliance. This approach gives the user unprecedented possibilities for combining and analyzing intelligent facility information with other enterprise information, thus allowing users to provide better service for less money which is an important competitive advantage in a market facing deregulation and increased competition. About BeritBerit is a leading provider of Network Information Systems in Central Europe with offices in Switzerland, Czech Republic and Germany. Berit was founded in 1991 and has today approximately 200 employees. Berit's LIDS products have an existing base of hundreds of customers with thousands of users among utility companies, municipalities and industry plant owners.
