Amada, Selects Solid Edge to Sell as MCAD Solution for North American Customers

ST. LOUIS, MO - January 16, 2001 - Unigraphics Solutions Inc. (NYSE: UGS) today announces that Amada, a worldwide leader in machine tool manufacturing, has selected Solid Edge as its mechanical computer-aided design solution to sell into its large North American customer base through Amada America, Inc.

Recognized as the global expert in sheet metal technologies, Amada manufactures and sells fabricating machines to thousands of customers who produce goods in a wide range of industries, including aerospace, air conditioning, appliance, electronics, office equipment, restaurant equipment and telecommunications. Because these customers also need software tools to design and manufacture products, effective this month Amada will be offering Solid Edge as its solid modeling design software.
