Cimmetry Systems Inc. Joins Growing International ASP Industry Consortium

Over 625 leading companies, including Cimmetry Systems, among membership

CAMBRIDGE, MA - August 20, 2000 - Cimmetry Systems, leader in visual data access and collaboration solutions, has joined the fast-growing Application Service Provider (ASP) Industry Consortium, an international advocacy group formed to promote the application service provider industry by sponsoring research, promoting best practices, and articulating the measurable benefits of the ASP delivery model of computing.

Launched in May 1999 with 25 founding members, the ASP Industry Consortium has grown to more than 625 members in 22 countries. Its goals include educating the marketplace, developing common definitions for the industry, serving as a forum for discussion, sponsoring research and supporting adoption of the ASP model on a global basis.

The Consortium's work is carried out through six committees: Education; Best Practices; Technology; Membership; Research; and an End Users Committee. Through these committees, the Consortium is promoting a number of key initiatives, including custom market research, an awards program to highlight the best of the ASP industry, and an alliance with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to develop a dispute avoidance and resolution mechanism for ASPs and their customers.

In addition, three regional committees, operating in Europe, the Americas and the Asia/Pacific region, have been formed to address issues that are more local in nature.

Cimmetry Systems has been involved in the Application Service Providing Industry since its inception. Their Visualization and Markup tools are an integral part of many of the systems that are the backbone of this increasingly important business model. Cimmetry's products can be integrated into virtually any DMS system as well as being completely web-ready using plug-ins, JAVA, and integration with ASPs and corporate portals.
