UG- and Pro/E-to-IGES TranslationsNow $1 Each Until August 25 on CADCAM-E.COM(Farmington Hills, Michigan – August 10, 2000) CADCAM-E.COM, the Internet-based CAD/CAM data conversion service, has dramatically reduced the cost of converting Unigraphics, Parasolid and Pro/ENGINEER files to IGES by introducing new conversion tools that can be used at a cost of just $1 per translation until August 25. This service will appeal to subcontractors that supply companies using a high-end CAD system and other firms that have had to maintain an expensive workstation and software seat to perform translations. Now they can simply browse the CADCAM-E website, download software and perform the translation. The regular cost of less than $100 per translation that applies after the special offer will still provide dramatic savings over the cost of maintaining hardware and software. CADCAM-E.COM’s IGES/PRO solution converts Pro/ENGINEER (*.prt) files (up to V2000i) into IGES 5.x compatible files. The IGES/UG solution converts Unigraphics files (up to V16 uncompressed) and Parasolid files (up to V11 -text and binary) into IGES 5.x compatible files. Both modules guarantee the integrity of the translated data. All 3D geometry Unigraphics and Pro/ENGINEER entities are converted to equivalent IGES entities, including Unigraphics and Pro/ENGINEER solids which are mapped to IGES Trimmed Surfaces. Translation filters are provided for both modules so that only the required data is translated. The translator executes on a Windows NT platform, eliminating the need for a high-end workstation. IGES/CAT is a proven, highly efficient, bi-directional, host independent, direct translator that converts native V3x and V4x CATIA data files into IGES 5.1 compatible files and vice versa. CIMSW-Cat allows SolidWorks users to work directly with CATIA data using "one button" translation, the result being data directly usable in the SolidWorks modeling session. CIMMC-Pro and CIMMC-UG can cut down the time to generate tool paths from Pro/Engineer and Unigraphics data respectively, by eliminating time-consuming iterations between design and manufacturing due to lack of accurate and reliable data exchange.
