CMC-Hymer Group Selects Solid Edge from Unigraphics Solutions for Mechanical Computer-Aided Design

ST. LOUIS, MO - August 10, 2000 - Unigraphics Solutions Inc. (NYSE: UGS) today announces that CMC-Hymer Group in Germany has selected Solid Edge to design its world-renowned motor homes and caravans. Hymer has installed 41 Solid Edge licenses and will expand the installation to 86 seats at seven sites in Germany and France over the next several years.

Solid Edge, a powerful 3-D solid modeling software package, replaces two previous 2-D systems at Hymer. Solid Edge becomes the standard CAD platform for Hymer's design departments.

Hymer chose Solid Edge after an intensive selection process citing many advantages including the software's ease-of-use, featuring a superior user-friendly Windows interface. "The Solid Edge user interface looks so clearly structured that our designers get an overview of the functionality in no time," says Christian Pilottek, technical organization manager at Hymer AG.

Hymer's executive board expects the migration from 2-D to 3-D Solid Edge to accelerate productivity in response to the fast-changing motor home and caravan market. Already the European leader in the market, Hymer plans to use 3-D design to reach several goals such as faster availability of individual parts, greater reliability in order processing from design through assembly and better quality production processes.
