PlanetCAD Enters Into Internet Co-Branding Partnership With Autodesk

PlanetCAD's 3Dshare.com Interoperability Solution to be Made Available Through Autodesk's Point A Portal

BOULDER, Colo., August 8, 2000 - Spatial Inc. (AMEX-STY), the world's leading developer of Web-hosted engineering application services, e-frastructure, interoperability solutions and open, component 3D modeling technology, today announced the completion of a co-branding partnership between its PlanetCAD(tm) division and Autodesk Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK), the world's leading design and digital content creation resource. Under the terms of the agreement, a co-branded version of PlanetCAD's 3Dshare.com(tm) interoperability service will be offered through the manufacturing segment of Autodesk Point A (www.pointA.autodesk.com).

Autodesk Point A is a Web portal that enables designers and engineers to save time locating industry resources, stay connected with their professional colleagues and access Internet-based versions of Autodesk and partner software products. Visitors to Autodesk Point A will benefit by gaining a new resource allowing them to translate design data between disparate systems using PlanetCAD's innovative 3Dshare.com translation and healing technology.

"By offering 3Dshare.com's interoperability solution on Autodesk Point A, we will help our manufacturing customers shorten their engineering cycle times as they gain the freedom to exchange data with many sources in their manufacturing supply chain and quickly turn that data into a useable format," said John Sanders, executive vice president of Autodesk's Design Solutions Division. "This service also gives users the freedom to use the design software to which they are most accustomed and output it into many different file formats."

3Dshare.com is the world's first Web-based service to enable the secure, automatic repair and translation of 3D CAD files for its 7,700-plus members world-wide. The system currently handles translation and repair of standard 3D data exchange formats such as STEP, SAT and IGES, as well as proprietary formats such as CATIA and Pro/ENGINEER. Following the agreement with Autodesk, 3Dshare.com will support DXF, DWG, Inventor Part, Inventor Assembly and Inventor Presentation formats.

"This co-branding agreement is the start of a series of new working relationships with Autodesk as the company pushes into e-commerce for engineering," said Mike Hansen, executive site producer, PlanetCAD. "We anticipate that this will dramatically increase the usage of 3Dshare.com over the next three months as Point A members realise the benefits of a highly secure, automated translation system that is tuned to their CAD interoperability needs."

3Dshare.com will be made available at the Autodesk Point A site during late Q3 2000. The new translation formats will be added following appropriate completion of testing and QA procedures.
