Nemetschek North America Reveals Plans for Future Support of Mac OS X

Columbia, Maryland - August 1, 2000 - Nemetschek North America today announced its intention to fully support Mac OS X, Apple's next generation operating system. This comes on the heels of the Macworld Expo in New York where Apple announced its plans to release OS X during the first quarter of 2001. Nemetschek N.A. stated that it intends to release a Carbon native -- Mac program that's been updated for Mac OS X -- version of VectorWorks within sixty days of the launch of OS X. Although now cross platform, MiniCAD/VectorWorks, the company's flagship product, originated on the Mac and has gone on to becoming the best-selling Mac CAD program.

Apple describes Mac OS X as "...not just another pretty face. Beneath the appealing, easy-to-use interface is a rock-solid foundation- an industrial-strength modern operating system engineered for stability, reliability and phenomenal performance."

Sean Flaherty, Chief Technology Officer for Nemetschek North America, concurred, "Mac OS X is projected as much more robust and powerful than previous versions and I look at this as being a new foundation release, featuring increased memory protection and preemptive multi-tasking, which will be favored highly among VectorWorks' Mac users."

Another new feature found in OS X is Quartz, an imaging technology that promises to provide higher quality and more reliability by unifying all imaging through use of the PDF format. VectorWorks users will enjoy printing PDF files without having to purchase a third party program.

Mr. Flaherty was recently interviewed by the e-zine, Architosh, regarding his thoughts on Mac OS X and how it will affect future versions of VectorWorks. To read the interview in its entirety, visit http://www.architosh.com.
