PlanetCAD Announces Japanese Web-Hosting Deal for Leading Engineering E-Commerce ServicesJapan's ISID to Translate and Host PlanetCAD Services for Japanese Engineering Market BOULDER, Colo - July 26, 2000 - Spatial Inc. (AMEX-STY), today announced it has signed an agreement with Information Services International - Dentsu Ltd. (ISID) in which ISID has agreed to localize, support, host and market Spatial's PlanetCAD engineering services portal in Japan. This includes PlanetCAD's engineering application services, including 3Dshare.com, 3Dpublish.com and Bits2Parts.com. Targeting more that 600,000 Japanese manufacturing companies, ISID will promote and sell the enterprise versions of PlanetCAD services for direct installation in large company intranets. The company will also provide additional PlanetCAD-related consulting services to these companies. ISID will translate PlanetCAD into the Japanese language. Spatial is the world's leading developer of Web-hosted engineering application services, e-commerce, interoperability solutions and open, component 3D modeling technology. With 1999 revenues of approximately $500 million, ISID is Japan's largest distributor of 3D modeling solutions, providing information services, hardware, software and consulting to many of Japan's largest manufacturing companies, including Mazda, Matsushita and Hitachi. "Correct translation of 3D data from one computer system to another is very important to our customers, and a Web delivery model is a perfect fit for them," said Hiromichi Sugiura, COO, industry business operations, ISID. "Traditional solutions were proving just too expensive to implement, but PlanetCAD's Web-based application services offer excellent value for all customers. In addition, the opportunity to host engineering application services across the Web has helped us to rapidly leverage our Internet strategy for this rapidly growing area of our market." "We are very happy to have found such a perfect partner to promote, host and support PlanetCAD services to more than 10 million manufacturing professionals in Japan," said David Prawel, vice president, business development, Spatial. "Japan's manufacturers have a reputation for adopting new technology. The tremendous interest in 3Dshare.com will increase as the service is localized. Also, this enables us to offer true 24/7 support that crosses regions and timelines." In conjunction with this agreement, PlanetCAD has also completed a gateway agreement with NC Network Co. Ltd, which will promote PlanetCAD to the NC Network online engineering community. NC Network will also provide localized engineering content and community to the PlanetCAD Japan site hosted by ISID. NC Network hosts and manages a live Internet community site known as EMIDAS, which provides Web-based engineering content, information and services for small- to mid-sized manufacturers in Japan. EMIDAS currently has more than 4,500 member companies, with an excess of 1.3 million page views per month at its site. EMIDAS members will automatically become PlanetCAD members so they can directly benefit from PlanetCAD's online engineering services. The first version of 3Dshare.com, as a Japanese-based service, is targeted to be available by the end of Q3 2000. NC Network will be involved in the testing and promotion of the site once it is live. "PlanetCAD services are a natural solution for the EMIDAS members who need access to the best engineering technology, without the traditionally high costs of ownership associated with packaged software products," said Akito Yasui, director, NC Network Co. Ltd. "By providing a gateway to highly effective and cost efficient engineering solutions from PlanetCAD, we will be delivering a large part of our charter to our members."
