Appian Traveler Offers Multi-Monitor Support for LaptopsIndustry Leader Opens Notebook Display Bottleneck FRENCHS FOREST, NSW - JULY 26, 2000 - INTERCAD 3D GRAPHICS, ANZ announced today the availability of the Appian Traveler, a cardbus-based, Digital Visual Interface Integration (DVI-I) add-in display adapter. The first of its kind, Appian Traveler allows users to extend their Windows desktops by adding a second display to their laptop computers. Appian Traveler presents a multi-monitor solution for anyone who uses a portable computer. Appian Traveler offers a portable alternative to a docking station, and will also allow a projector to display information to a group while leaving the presenter with room for notes on the laptop screen. Its DVI-I interface allows full support for digital displays and projectors as well. InFocus Corporation, the worldwide leader in data/video projection, offers the Appian Traveler as a complimentary accessory with their data/video projectors that include DVI connectivity. "Every projector we have announced in 2000 is future ready, incorporating connectivity for the DVI standard," said Bob Betts, vice president and general manager for customer service at InFocus. "The Appian Traveler offers our customers excellent flexibility when using these DVI enabled projectors, providing them with an innovative solution that takes advantage of our projectors' dual connectivity and crisp image quality." Supporting the standard developed by the Personal Computer Memory Card International Association (PCMCIA), Appian Traveler is compatible with any Windows 98- or 2000-based laptop with a PC Card expansion port. In addition, Appian Traveler ships standard with HydraVision, Appian's patented desktop management software, and integrates the DVI standard into its architecture, allowing connection to both digital and analog displays. "The rising popularity of notebook platforms makes the Appian Traveler a natural choice for the multiple monitor market," said Scott Lathe, Vice President of Marketing at Appian. "People who take their work with them need the extra display space to have email, spreadsheets and a Web browser open all at once, so they can get more done. Appian Traveler is an elegant, affordable solution to their needs, allowing laptop users to combine desktop real estate with portability, where previously these were mutually exclusive features."
