3Dlabs Announces Wildcat II 3D Graphics Technology

New Wildcat II lays foundation for next generation performance; Maintains industry lead in graphics performance

HUNTSVILLE, AL - July 25, 2000 - 3Dlabs (NASDAQ:TDDD) Wildcat Division (formerly Intense3D) today announced Wildcat II, the second generation of its record-breaking, award-winning Wildcat 3D Graphics Technology. The first product in the new Wildcat II family of graphics accelerators will feature a dual-pipeline architecture that delivers more than twice the performance of the company's current high-end professional graphics accelerator and performance leader-the Wildcat 4110-at a comparable price. The result is a new milestone for Wildcat graphics, and a new threshold of high-end performance for a broader range of users.

With a ProCDRS-02 score of 85.5, Wildcat II's performance easily outpaces current-generation products, as well as next-generation products publicly announced by other vendors. This phenomenal advance in performance is made possible by Wildcat's latest chipset for geometry and rasterization, with enhancements that enable maximum professional graphics performance at competitive prices. In addition to this record-breaking performance, Wildcat II graphics accelerators will feature trademark Wildcat features such as 3D volumetric texturing, per pixel effects, and SuperScene antialiasing - full scene-based antialiasing based on patented Wildcat Graphics technology. With quadruple the performance of the first Wildcat product, Wildcat II delivers on the promise of the Wildcat Architecture, which enables cost-effective scalability without redesigning the architecture. As a result, graphics professionals such as animators, MCAD users, visualization professionals, and 3D content creators can experience productivity benefits that go straight to their companies' bottom lines.

"Wildcat II technology allows 3Dlabs to continue breaking new ground in the industry by offering industry-leading graphics performance at a competitive price point," said Bill Rick, vice president of sales and marketing at 3Dlabs Wildcat Division. "With Wildcat II, the power of dual-pipeline graphics will be within the budget range of any serious graphics professional, delivering performance, quality, and functionality that drives productivity to new heights."

"3Dlabs continues to show strong leadership in technical 3D performance solutions with the introduction of the Wildcat II architecture," said Jeff Wood, product marketing manager for Hewlett-Packard's personal workstation line. "It will be an excellent complement to our VISUALIZE fx graphics products for our technical professional customers. We look forward to working with 3Dlabs to integrate the Wildcat II graphics solution as a part of our Leadership Graphics Program."

Wildcat II Graphics is being demonstrated at SIGGRAPH in the 3Dlabs' Wildcat booth (#1421), and at the booths of leading workstation vendors Compaq (#643) and HP (#1519). The first Wildcat II graphics accelerator is expected to be available this Fall in upcoming workstations from industry-leading vendors.
