Cascade Microtech Selects Solidworks Software as Standard for Design and Collaboration

Leader in Advanced Microelectronics Probing Solutions Implements 3D CAD Software and PDM Solution

CONCORD, Mass. - July 24, 2000 - SolidWorks Corporation, a leading provider of affordable, easy-to-use 3D CAD software for the mainstream market, today announced that Cascade Microtech, Inc., has selected SolidWorks as its company-wide engineering standard. Cascade has also chosen PDM/Works* 2000 from DesignSource Technology, a SolidWorks Gold Partner Product, as its standard product data management solution. Cascade will use SolidWorks and PDM/Works to design and manufacture its complete line of microelectronic probing solutions for the semiconductor industry.

With more than 30 patents, Cascade's technology delivers essential functionality for semiconductor wafer testing, including probe stations, probe cards, accessories and software. In addition to choosing SolidWorks, Cascade purchased FeatureWorks(tm), SolidWorks' feature-recognition software, to aid in importing legacy data. The company is using SolidWorks Animator to create AVI files from SolidWorks parts and assemblies, allowing it to communicate design concepts and collaborate more effectively. Cascade is also using Dynamic Designer/Motion from Mechanical Dynamics, Inc., to study the behavior of its complex assemblies in motion.

Cascade Microtech is working with SolidWorks' regional reseller, CAE Northwest, for software solutions, implementation, training and support.
