SURFCAM Users Offered New eTraining Tool

Web-Based Classroom Dedicated to CAD/CAM Software

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, California, USA - July 24, 2000 - Surfware, Inc. announces the launch of an Internet-based training facility for SURFCAM CAD/CAM Systems users, referred to as SURFCAM eTraining. This technology, unique in the PC-based computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software industry, extends the in-shop learning capabilities of SURFCAM. Long known in the industry for providing rapid training options, advanced training features like multimedia tutorials and sophisticated audio-graphic online help within the product, SURFCAM's eTraining web site stands apart in its scope and ease of use. SURFCAM users can access this website 24 hours per day and operate the tutorials at their own pace, affording them the opportunity to incorporate training around their work schedules.

In development for over a year, Surfware's eTraining site is structured around a series of tutorials, with animated graphics for clarity, that introduce new users to SURFCAM's interface and its 2, 3, 4, 5-axis manufacturing capabilities. SURFCAM's lathe and wire EDM technology is also featured. The structure of the site allows the user to choose lessons from a sequence of procedures or from a technology reference. For example, a user new to SURFCAM may choose to run a sequence of lessons from the main navigation bar within the site, or, if interested in a specific technology, ie, face milling, can select that technology from a gallery of manufacturing highlights.

The site comprises tutorial-based text sequences that accompany the animated graphic files. These graphics illustrate every process covered on the site.
