Everyone In Engineering, Construction And Operations (E/C/O) Invited To Start Projects On Bentley's Project Extranet Hosting Service

EXTON, PA. -  July 21, 2000 - Bentley Systems, Incorporated today announced that Viecon.com, its award-winning project extranet hosting service, has completed its initial preview phase for Bentley SELECT subscribers with flying colors. Beginning immediately, everyone involved in architecture, engineering, construction and operations is invited to begin projects on the site.

Subscribers to the Bentley SELECT technology and service subscription program continue to benefit from exclusive privileges in using Viecon.com. For example, the Viecon pricing matrix for Bentley SELECT subscribers and others is based in part on the number of authorized participants for a particular project. Licenses of MicroStation covered by Bentley SELECT, on a Viecon project sponsored by a Bentley SELECT subscriber, will not be counted towards the number of participants in calculating the per project price of the service. Bentley SELECT subscribers are entitled to apply their Bentley SELECT discounts to Viecon.com purchases. Also, Bentley SELECT subscribers can attend, at no charge, the Bentley International User Conference in Philadelphia from September 17-21, where more than 56 sessions are devoted to "Viecon.com and beyond," teaching users to get the most out of Viecon.com and other Bentley E/C/O technology and services.

The new policy increases the audience for Viecon.com, which was recognized with the CADENCE Show Stopper award and CADALYST Top 10 award at its launch at A/E/C SYSTEMS 2000. Bentley SELECT subscribers will benefit from participation in E/C/O projects begun by others in their business networks - transforming those telephone/fax/overnight shipment networks into more efficient, online E/C/O networks.

Viecon.com is part of Bentley's overall Internet initiative, Viecon. Viecon's comprehensive nature allows for intelligent transactions such as queries of project data at the component level, thanks to Bentley's unique ProjectBank technology. It relies on ubiquitous Internet standards, most notably aecXML, as the basis for direct machine-to-machine queries and communication, despite otherwise incompatible file formats. And Viecon allows direct synchronization with organizations' "engineering back office" information systems. It does so by relying upon, and extending the capabilities of, Bentley's engineering information management system, ProjectWise.
