Upperspace Announces New Version of DesignCAD2D/3D Computer Aided Design SoftwarePRYOR, Okla., - June. 24, 2000 - Upperspace Corp. today announced the availability of DesignCAD 3000 and DesignCAD Office 3000. DesignCAD 3000 combines 2D drafting with 3D solid modeling. Upperspace Corporation has announced the release of DesignCAD 3000. DesignCAD 3000 provides complete 2-D drafting as well as 3-D modeling capability. With a list price of under $300, DesignCAD 3000 features several new and enhanced drawing commands and improved customization capabilities. DesignCAD 3000 is used primarily in professional engineering, drafting, and architectural applications, but with its low cost and ease of use it is also used by many individuals as a personal CAD system for casual and household drawings. Through the utilization of 3D graphics acceleration, DesignCAD 3000's shading, drawing, and printing speeds are considerably faster. Real-time rotation of shaded 3D models is possible even on laptop computers. DesignCAD 3000 features excellent shading and rendering, with textures, texture mapping, multiple independent light sources, and 3-D animation. Drawings can be imported from and exported to a variety of graphic file formats. With DesignCAD's VRML output, users can place a DesignCAD 3D model on Web pages and allow others to view, rotate, and animate the drawing with a Web browser. This makes DesignCAD 3000 ideal for creating 3D models for Internet marketing purposes. Direct e-mail support, JPG output, and online registration provide further Internet support. DesignCAD 3000 supports the input and output of AutoCAD 2000 drawings in both DWG and DXF file formats. DesignCAD's 3D modeling includes solid subtraction, union, intersection, and interference checking. Complex computations such as volume, center of gravity, and surface area can be performed on any solid object. In addition to several solid primitives, solids can be created using linear extrusion, circular sweep, extrusion along a curve, patches, and with surface connecting cross-sections. Solid objects and surfaces can be edited with a variety of commands including trim, scale, fillet, and the "hammer" command. DesignCAD 3000 comes with over a thousand 2D and 3D symbols. DesignCAD 3000's new symbol handling makes it simple to create and edit symbol toolboxes. Any drawing can be used as a symbol and incorporated in a symbol toolbox. Custom menus, custom toolboxes, and macros are supported by DesignCAD 3000. The OLE Automation interface allows custom commands to be written for DesignCAD 3000 in Visual Basic, Visual C++, and other languages. In addition, Visual Basic or Visual C++ programs can call DesignCAD 3000 and utilize its functions and graphics. Direct scanner support enables users to scan documents and place them into drawings as bitmaps. DesignCAD's Auto Trace command can be used to convert the bitmaps into vectors for direct incorporation into a drawing. DesignCAD drawings can be output to any Windows printer or plotter as line drawings or shaded models. DesignCAD's Paper Space Mode enables more than one view of a drawing to be output on a single page, making it easy to print detail insets or 3-view drawings. While DesignCAD 3000 has extensive 3D drawing and modeling capabilities, its 2D drawing features are unsurpassed. DesignCAD has many snap modes and line constraints, which can substantially speed up the drawing process. DesignCAD 3000 has advanced commands that can be big time-savers for many applications. For example, double lines can automatically be used for drawing floor plans. The distance and bearing from a legal description can be entered directly to draw the lines describing real estate property. The Center of Gravity command can be used to find the center of gravity of any solid or the geographic center of any 2-dimensional shape. DesignCAD 3000 has several timesaving commands such as these. DesignCAD 3000 has 12 different dimension commands, each of which has customizable text formats, locations, etc. In addition to ordinary linear dimensions, dimensions are provided to suit virtually any engineering and architectural application. DesignCAD 3000 supports multiple views of multiple files. In addition, files can be inserted as OLE objects into other applications. For example, a user can insert a DesignCAD drawing into a Microsoft Word document and edit the drawing later by double-clicking it. New 2D features of DesignCAD 3000 include a snap locator, tangent snap, and an updated chamfer command that will allows a user to define variable depths for each side of the chamfer. Other new features are a Section Copy command, ortho mode toggle, insert door and window commands, a double-line mode, and a Trim Multiple Lines command. New 3D features of DesignCAD 3000 include a Slice by Curved Surface command, support for 3D hardware acceleration so that objected can be drawn using shading and also retain shading while being rotated, expanded solid operations, enhanced spiraling of objects in 3D, hide/shade all views, the Cut Corner command, Cut Edge command, and Walk Through Mode. In addition to the new 2D and 3D features, DesignCAD 3000 includes many improved features. Improved features include Image Rotate, Import/Export in DWG and DXF format, stacking order display, and Auto Trace. DesignCAD 3000 allows users to save multiple named paper space layouts with the drawing and DesignCAD supports user-defined shaped for paper space views. There is improved hatch pattern support, retaining handles, and text handling. Fast Print allows a user to click an icon that will print the current window for a quick printing of the current zoom factor. Improved creating image files options allow users to define the size and type of their image file by allowing them to select between wireframe, hidden line, removed, and shading. Other improved features include printing, Batch Convert, Convert to Double Line, line separation and joining commands, the Move with Eye lightsource option, Entity Tree, Dimension Text options, and improved online documentation. DesignCAD 3000 supports Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0, and Windows 2000 systems. It is available through computer and software dealers worldwide, or directly from Upperspace. DesignCAD 3000 has a street price of under $300. Current DesignCAD users can purchase an upgrade through Upperspace for $79.
