Font Mapping In IntelliCADWhen importing DWGs created in other than IntelliCAD 98, the default font mapping selected by IntelliCAD 98 may not always be satisfactory. Font use and alternative font mapping can be controlled in a couple of ways.Copy the appropriate fonts (SHX files) to the IntelliCAD font directory. By default this is /IntelliCAD 98/fonts. Alternatively you can include a directory containing the fonts you wish to use on the support file search path. In IntelliCAD 98 choose Tools > Options and make the appropriate entries in the search Path box. Multiple directories can be added here, separated with a semi-colon. Bear in mind that the fonts you wish to use may be subject to a software license and as such may require purchase of the appropriate license before those fonts may be used. Third party suppliers of suitable fonts can be found in the Design-Drawing Software Catalog. Alternatively, try creating your own SHX fonts. A package called AutoFont automates the process in AutoCAD although whether or not it works in IntelliCAD is yet to be determined. IntelliCAD relies on the ICAD.FMP file to automatically substitute IntelliCAD 98 fonts for fonts referenced in DWG files with standard AutoCAD font names. This file as shipped will remap all standard AutoCAD fonts, but if you use third party fonts, you will need to either provide these font (SHX) files to IntelliCAD or set up a mapping scheme in the ICAD.FMP file if the font files are not available. ICAD.FMP maps one font to another as a DWG file is loaded in IntelliCAD. It is a text file that can be edited with a text editor such as Notepad. Avoid editing ICAD.FMP with editors that may leave formatting codes in the text. These codes may cause problems with IntelliCAD's use of this file. Example:
In this portion of the standard ICAD.FMP file (found in the IntelliCAD 98 program directory), referenced fonts named italic, monotxt, romanc and romand are mapped to ic-italt.shx, ic-mono.shx, ic-romnc.shx and ic-romnd.shx respectively. The mapping is one way, that is the font reference is changed to the mapped font when the DWG file is saved.
